HOW TO PROPERLY ADJUST THE DRIVER'S SEAT
An improperly adjusted driver's seat, with a long stay behind the wheel of the latter, can provoke not only health problems, but also lead to more sad consequences on the road. It is in order to avoid all these risks that specialists have developed simple and understandable recommendations that allow you to quickly and accurately adjust the driver's seat so as to create optimal conditions for a comfortable and safe ride. GENERAL RULES AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Driver's outerwear and footwear. Long coats, thick jackets should be abandoned. They do not allow you to sit comfortably in a regular place, hinder movement and even make it difficult to use seat belts. When choosing shoes, it is also important to ensure convenience and comfort, so it is better to refuse high heels.
CORRECT POSITION OF THE BODY AND LEGS
Landing in the driver's seat. Correct position: The back is close to the back and remains straight. At the same time, the driver himself certainly sits in his seat, and does not get up from it in order, for example, to look in the rear-view mirror. If this required standing up, then either the driver's seat or the side mirror is not adjusted!
Next, you need to adjust the body in relation to the pedals. It is necessary to depress the brake pedal, and then the clutch (on cars with a manual transmission - manual transmission) to failure. In this position, the knees should remain slightly bent, and the imaginary angle that forms around the patella of the leg should not exceed 120 °.
Particular attention is paid to the position of the hips. If the vehicle is compact, the knee contact point on the right side can be the console, and on the left - the trim of the driver's door. It is important to provide a small gap (3-5 cm) between the console and the knee, as well as on the other side - the trim and the knee. So that there is no stiffness in movements. Press on the clutch, brake, fuel supply pedals with the toe of the foot, while the heel should rest firmly on the floor covering.
ADJUST THE SEAT TILT AND STEERING WHEEL POSITION
The best option - the angle between the back and the seat is between 95 - 115 °. A right angle (90 °) should be avoided, as this puts a lot of stress on the lower back and back, and the driver will have to constantly stretch his head up and forward.
The steering wheel should be located as parallel to the spinal column as possible, the optimal distance between the steering wheel and the driver's chest is 30-45 cm. In this case, the elbows should remain in a bent position - at an angle of 120 ° will be optimal.
ADDITIONAL ADJUSTMENTS
Another important seat adjustment is height. Here it is necessary to achieve an optimal position that allows you to see the road surface and instruments on the panel. The minimum clearance between the crown of the head and the roof in the cabin is 12-15 cm (important for compact cars).
The headrests should be raised to the level of the eyelids, and the distance from them to the back of the head should be kept within 2-3 cm.
OPTIMAL VISIBILITY
When the driver is properly seated in the seat, he has a full view (if you do not turn your head, then your eyes are approximately at the level of the central part of the windshield).
The side rear-view mirrors are adjusted so that when looking at them, without changing the position of the head tilt (only a slight turn is allowed), the edge of the rear of the vehicle and the adjacent lane of the road (shoulder) is visible.
